Cleaning White Shoes with Baking Soda
Following is a step-by-step guide on how you can clean your white shoes with the help of baking soda:
- Things You Will Need: For cleaning your white shoes with baking soda, the following are the ingredients you will need to prepare a cleaning paste:
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- ½ tablespoon hydrogen peroxide
- ½ tablespoon warm water
- A brush for scrubbing
- Take a soft bristled brush. Dip it into the paste and apply it on the shoes, primarily focusing on the visible stubborn stains.
- Apply the paste on the shoes in a circular motion with the help of the brush.
- Let the paste sit on the stains for a while, for around half an hour.
- Use clean water to rinse the shoes thoroughly once the paste is dried completely. Soft dampened cloth can be also used for rinsing.
- Repeat the process if you still see any visible stains.
- You will have to take approximately 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda for each shoe separately, enough that the entire insole can be covered. If your size is a little big, add a small extra amount of baking soda.
- Cover the insole of the shoe entirely with baking soda.
- To distribute it evenly, you can tilt the shoe forward and backward and shake it from side to side. If lumps are formed in the powder, there is nothing to worry about.
- You will have to let the powder sit in the shoes for some hours, it can also go overnight. Baking soda kills the bacteria, that cause the odor. If the shoes are too stinky, make sure that you keep the powder in the shoes for over 24 hours.
- To remove the baking soda, turn the shoe upside down over a trashcan or a sink and shake the shoes properly. It is not a big issue if a small amount remains there.
